The 2021 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Sonoma County's Alexander Valley appellation. Silver Oak was founded in 1972 by Justin Meyer and Ray Twomey Duncan in Rutherford, Napa Valley, but they've been sourcing from Alexander Valley since the early years. The Alexander Valley site grows Cabernet that's generally softer and more forward than their Napa fruit, which makes this bottle a good option for people who want the Silver Oak style at a lower price point than the Napa.
Both the Alexander Valley and Napa Valley labels are aged exclusively in American oak, a house philosophy that sets Silver Oak apart from most premium California Cab producers who use French oak. American oak gives the wines vanilla and coconut notes that balance the dark fruit.
Tasting notes for the 2021: cassis, caramel, juniper, and pomegranate on the nose. Fresh and lifted on the palate with a juicy, fruit-forward core and a silky mouthfeel. Drinks well now through the mid-2030s.
Available with a custom label or engraving.
