Hendrick's is a Scottish gin made by William Grant and Sons at the Girvan Distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland. Launched in 1999, it built its reputation on a distinctive flavor profile and its dark, apothecary-style bottle, and it remains one of the most recognized premium gins in the world.
The gin is produced in small batches using two different stills: a Bennett pot still and a rare Carter-Head still. The Bennett steeps its botanicals overnight before distillation, while the Carter-Head holds its botanicals in a basket in the still neck and steams them gently, a dual distillation method that creates an unusually smooth spirit. The botanical mix includes juniper, cubeb berries, elderflower, chamomile, angelica, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander, yarrow, and orris, alongside an infusion of cucumber and rose petal.
Tasting Notes: Big, creamy aromas right off the bat, with a little zesty citrus, juniper, rose petal jelly, and cucumber. Astoundingly fresh notes of cucumber with juniper, oak, a touch more citrus, and vanilla. Creamy and savory, with a long, refreshing, floral finish.
